time square

I spent the past five days (well, technically six, courtesy of American Airlines and their “bad weather” cancellations) in Manhattan, staying in Midtown at a hotel within a few minutes walk of most Broadway shows. I ended up watching Avenue Q (hilarious), Spring Awakening (go listen to the soundtrack now), Gypsy (Patti LuPone!) and Sunday in the Park with George (based on Georges Seurat’s “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte“, awesome stage design). I couldn’t take pictures of the theatres or the shows themselves, but I was free to snap away at the permanent collections in both MoMA and the Met! In fact, a great chunk of my photos are just snapshots of artwork…

Below the cut are some of my favourite shots from the trip. You can try hovering for captions but they aren’t cooperating, so if you want to know the juicy details, just ask!
