This Russian short film entitled Moya Iyubov (“My Love”) was nominated for an Academy Award in 2008. The artist in charge of this production, Aleksandr Petrov, painted the entire thing on a piece of glass with his fingers, using the occasional brush only for the finer details. To animate a specific subject, he would make adjustments by retouching the existing paint, adding more when necessary. The process was undoubtedly a painstaking one (the 26-minute film took 3 years to make), but the result is just magnificent – it’s literally a moving painting.

Oh my! This is impressive. Especially if you thing in all the work behind it. Thanks for sharing ;)
Oh wow— I’d love to see this. :)
