i recently came across this swedish company’s website, sommarnöjen, thanks to my continuous and undying love of small houses in remote landscapes (you might recall this post). unfortunately i do not understand swedish (yet…) but from what i could make of the information provided, sommarnöjen commissioned three of sweden’s best architectural firms to design and build a series of 15-square meter houses – 15-square meters because only then are building permits not required.

honestly, are these not the coolest homes you have ever seen? who needs mansions when you can have the perfect fusion between tiny houses and swedish design? or maybe that’s just me. haha.
you may also have noticed a trend in my recent posts regarding all things swedish… well, i’ve officially been accepted to study abroad for all of next year in lund! i’m ridiculously excited about it, as i’ve been wanting to go ever since freshman year. as an extension of my major in cultural studies, i’ll be doing swedish and scandinavian studies there. the course i’m most looking forward to though is “modern design in scandinavia” (who didn’t see that coming?) i also hope to be able to learn swedish but the course openings are not guaranteed, so we’ll see!
all things swedish aside, i’ve updated my portfolio with photos from the national’s concert this past friday, ten minutes with a new edition, and also started a new side-project called touches – it’s my way of using twitter as an inspirational archive, to keep track of lyrics that i love but often get lost due to my mammoth itunes library. if you use twitter, feel free to follow it and interact with it however you want… “retweet” it, maybe reply with what song you think it’s from. i don’t know. at this point i’m just taking the idea and running with it, with no definitive plan in mind, but your participation would be greatly appreciated :)
Swedish do everything right, it’s almost annoying!! haha…no, I’m kidding I admire them for that. I can’t wait to hear from your adventures there ;)
Hi Joanne. Thank you for linking me back!
Congratulations on being accepted in Lund! Have you been there before? It’s such a lovely city! I think I should go back there soon :)
I love scandinavia design! I wish I could go there and study about their culture and design!
Your portfolio is beautiful! I love the sensitivity you have. ox
