i’ve been watching some bergman films lately so as to reminisce about my buñuel/bergman class last semester, to prep for my swedish film course in lund next semester, and to get used to the different intonations in spoken swedish – all this while gawking at sven nyqvist’s gorgeous cinematographic work.

    i am slightly ashamed to say that i have seen very few bergman films…are there any that you would particularly recommend? naturally, i trust your taste :)

    i would recommend summer with monika (for the cinematography especially), fanny and alexander, wild strawberries, persona (i think anyone who watches films should see this at least once in their life), and probably cries and whispers. although he has plenty of other films worth mentioning!
