vancouver folk festival 4

folk fest was an absolute blast! the weather was scorching that day, perfect for outdoor music. my friends and i all managed to forget to bring a towel, so we ended up sitting on a patch of grass between everybody else’s towels. iron & wine was beautiful as expected – sam beam came out armed only with a guitar and sang solo for the whole entire set. although he was wonderful, my favourite show of the day was definitely atlanta’s very own arrested development, a socially conscious hip-hop group that has been around for 17 years and still going strong. by the time their show started (around 9:30) my friends and i managed to wiggle to the front, standing right up against the stage – and from then until 11 we danced the whole night through! it so happened that the international space station passed by above our heads at around 10:30 so we watched it go by and waved at it, blinking across the sky.

alain delon 7

i watched le samouraï yesterday (highly recommended) featuring alain delon as jeff costello, the professional hitman who never thinks of ridding his hat and trench coat so as to not be recognized by onlookers. i’m not complaining though cause delon wears it terribly well…

i’ll also be heading to the vancouver folk festival tomorrow to catch the likes of iron & wine, the weakerthans, joe pug and arrested development. music on the beach, under the vancouver sunset, on a warm summer evening? sounds great to me! hope your weekend is just as spendid!!

thank you so much for all the sweet birthday greetings, and i hope the week is treating you well!  if not, then i hope at least the new edition of ten minutes can be of good help :)

twenty years old 6

i didn’t take all too many photos on my birthday, but rest assured, it was simple and simply fantastic. twenty ain’t so bad when you’ve got the most wonderful people to share it with :)

this past week i’ve also started my editorial internship at wejetset magazine. i wrote my first two articles on the works of josé james and sarah applebaum, and trust me they were a ton of fun to write. taj (who is the founder & publisher of wejetset) is ridiculously supportive, helpful and open to whatever ideas i have in mind… so this doesn’t seem like an internship (in the traditional sense) at all.

to sum it all up, this summer has been an absolute blast so far.  even the swedish housing situation seems to be falling into place. onwards and upwards with the month of july!
