i’ve been following masataka ohta‘s work for a while now. his textile designs are incredible, as is his lyrical sensibility towards fashion. choosing bach’s cello suite as musical accompaniment for his site only enhances my appreciation of his work even more…

when i was last in berlin, i met up with lisa for a visit to désirée‘s showroom no. 4, followed by a quick lunch by the water (spargelcremesuppe!) and a stroll around the market. the showroom space was rather small but i absolutely loved the way it was laid out, meticulously and thoughtfully, creating a story behind each designer’s set of works. désirée chatted with us for quite a while and i learned a lot from her, about everything from education to independent labels to the nitty gritty details of life in berlin.

missoni spring/summer 2010 resort collection

thank you so much for all the sweet birthday greetings, and i hope the week is treating you well!  if not, then i hope at least the new edition of ten minutes can be of good help :)

3.1 phillip lim resort collection s/s 2010

a fantasy anthropological study of african skinhead fashion from the early seventies, as photographer clayton cubitt calls it. a stunning set of photographs, don’t you think? be sure to see the rest of the series on his website.

it’s april, the rain is washing clean the sidewalks, and i’m tired. the kind of tire that nullifies time and the responsibilities that it brings, if only in my mind. this tiredness seems to me a rewarding feeling though. it slows me down, and it makes me take in the chaos that exists in the present moment, even in the simplest of things, like the rain outside. within an instant, puddles emerged out of the pavement. it could’ve taken a minute or thirty but i didn’t keep count. i just listened to them grow. sensational splashes against the hum of city noises.

all the tire will be out by tomorrow night though cause andrew bird‘s coming to town. i am considering bringing my cello along as an excuse to join him on stage. pizzicato party!

remember mr. murkudis from a few posts ago? apparently his showroom is just as cool as his work – 140 colours of the same dress, all on one rack, placed next to windows to showcase the quality of the sheer material. kostas’ brother andreas is in the business too, he owns a boutique in berlin that stocks a bunch of extremely fancy things.

it’s rather warm outside but it’s also raining like there’s no tomorrow, so i decided to enjoy my day indoors while working on my buñuel paper, making french toast, reading milan kundera’s slowness, drinking green tea, listening to raphael saadiq, and looking through kostas murkudis‘ ss 09 lookbook.
